We have access to many thousands of e-journals and print journals.

Searching for a specific journal title?
1. Go to FINDit. Select the Find Journal link.

2. Search here for the title of the journal e.g. American History.

Searching for a specific journal article or generally for a topic?

Academic Search Complete

The database includes full text for 1800 publications as well as images, for nearly every academic field of study.

Covering health, social services, social issues, drug and alcohol addiction, probation and criminal justice.

British Education Index
Provides information on research, policy and practice in education and training in the UK

Child Development and Adolescent Studies
A source for references to the current and historical literature related to growth and development of children through the age of 21.

Provides authoritative coverage of the literature relating to nursing and allied health from 1937 onwards

Community Care Inform
This contains expert-written, practice-related information including: case studies, guidance to key legislation, expert articles and practice guides.

Social Care Online
Produced by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) and is the UK’s largest database of information on all aspects of social care and social work.

Web of Science
Web of Science gives access to a range of databases which can be searched singly or simultaneously.


Occasionally the Library offers trials of new databases to allow students and staff the opportunity to examine their suitability. Depending on the feedback obtained, and the cost involved, some of these databases may be added to the USW collection.
