We offer year-round webinars, workshops, and events to help students to improve their performance in assessments, coursework, and assignments.

Join a Study Skills Webinar

  • Webinars cover a range of topics designed to improve your work
  • Study Skills webinars are open to all USW students 
  • Booking is required. Once you have booked, simply 'join the session' on AZO at the date/ time of the webinar to be directed to the Teams meeting
  • All webinars are accessed online via Microsoft Teams (download teams) 
  • Join the online meeting through your USW account to access all features (i.e Teams chat functions) 
  • No obligation to speak up (but there's plenty of time at the end to ask questions if you want to)

This webinar gives tips on refining your dissertation topic, planning and managing your project, structuring the dissertation and the academic requirements for writing it up.

Many students lose valuable marks for not being able to reference correctly. This session will highlight good academic practice and skills to avoid plagiarism; it will concentrate on the use of the Harvard system with particular reference to the USW style guide.

Reflective writing is an important skill to develop; this interactive session will introduce the main models for reflection, and encourages identification and understanding of key elements, including criticality, form, structure and balance.

This webinar introduces you to the main features of report writing with particular emphasis on organising and presenting information in an appropriate format.

What makes a good essay? This webinar identifies key areas for the construction and writing of essays, enabling a more confident approach to developing the skills for this type of assignment.

Speaking in public is an essential skill at university or in a work environment. This session will look at ways to achieve effective planning and organisation of content, the use of visual aids, and delivering with confidence, mainly in relation to academic presentations.

This webinar series provides Maths support for nursing students who would like help for their Safe Medicate exam. These webinars are designed to give a refresher on Maths strategies such as cancelling fractions and long division. It is suitable for nursing students who have not done Maths for a long time or those who would like tips for working things out without a calculator.
