The test comprises of 36 items in three sets of 12, designed for use with children and old people. The items are arranged to assess the chief cognitive capabilities of which children under 11 years of age are usually capable. The three sets together provide three opportunities for a person to develop a consistent theme of thought and the test of 36 items as a whole is designed to assess, as accurately as possible, mental development up to intellectual maturity.

This is the Collective Self-Esteem Scale and it is designed to measure self-esteem which comes from being a group member. In contrast to scales such as the Rosenberg (which measures an individual’s overall/general self-esteem), this one is answered with reference to a specific group you belong to (e.g. a University of South Wales student group, an Ospreys supporter).
