Raven's Coloured Progressive Matrices (Intelligence) (RCPM)

The test comprises of 36 items in three sets of 12, designed for use with children and old people. The items are arranged to assess the chief cognitive capabilities of which children under 11 years of age are usually capable. The three sets together provide three opportunities for a person to develop a consistent theme of thought and the test of 36 items as a whole is designed to assess, as accurately as possible, mental development up to intellectual maturity.

RIS Project CSES (Pack B) (CSES)

Luhtanen and Crocker, 1992

This is the Collective Self-Esteem Scale and it is designed to measure self-esteem which comes from being a group member.  In contrast to scales such as the Rosenberg (which measures an individual’s overall/general self-esteem), this one is answered with reference to a specific group you belong to (e.g. a University of South Wales student group, an Ospreys supporter).

RIS Project Ingroup Identification Scale Leach Model (Pack B)

This uses the items identified by Leach et al (2008) to indicate degree of ingroup identification.  It has two overall components: self-definition (the degree to which you  see yourself in terms of your group membership) and self-investment (the amount of emotional connection you have with your group).

A self-report of positive and negative mood states and requires participants to rate the degree to which they are experiencing specific emotions at a given time.

A short self-report scale measuring the experience of symptoms of physical illness.  The illness items are those which are most likely to be linked with stress/nervousness.

Scale to measure the general resilience people display in the face of life’s challenges.  People high in resilience are better at coping in challenging situations – this can include trying to generate solutions to problems and not feeling personally “threatened” by challenging situations.
